Junior Design Engineer
£28,000
Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
We are looking for a Junior Design Engineer to support the development of products from initial concept through to final production. This is a hands-on, creative role where attention to detail and a passion for design are essential to delivering products that meet both technical and customer expectations.
You will work closely with the wider design and engineering team to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. A key part of the role involves regularly presenting design concepts often in the form of hand sketches to the Managing Director, so confidence with pen-and-paper design is important.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the end-to-end development of products, from concept to finished product
* Produce and present design concepts, sketches, and 3D models
* Collaborate daily with internal teams to ensure project timelines are met
* Support benchmarking and life testing to validate designs
* Create repeatable test methods and analyse results to drive continuous improvement
* Ensure designs meet quality, performance, and customer expectations
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will combine creativity with strong technical ability and attention to detail. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects at once and able to prioritise your workload effectively.
* CAD experience (Pro-E / Creo / Solid Edge / SolidWorks or NX)
* 3D rendering capability
* Strong sketching skills
* Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
* Model making experience
* Good understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
* Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering background
