Project Manager - 3-Month Contract

My client is looking for an experienced Project Manager is required to support a range of IT initiatives within a diverse project portfolio. The work will span projects of varying size and complexity, including both technical IT deliveries and business-focused change.
Some assignments may begin at initiation, while others will already be in progress. The successful candidate must be able to quickly assess the current project position using available documentation and through engagement with key stakeholders, project teams, and IT resources, ensuring smooth progression toward successful delivery.
The role may involve close collaboration with third-party suppliers from both a technical and project management perspective. Projects may be supported by full-time or part-time resources across IT and business functions. The Project Manager will also work alongside peers within IT Services to deliver assigned projects as part of the wider programme of work.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent professional experience
PRINCE2 Foundation (or higher)
Strong experience applying and managing projects using PRINCE2 methodology
Demonstrable delivery of complex projects as a Project Manager
Proven ability to take ownership of in-flight projects and drive them to completion
Skilled facilitator with the ability to engage diverse stakeholder groups and extract key information
Experience delivering IT projects across a wide range of technology platforms
Competence in matrix resource management
Experience developing strategies, policies, and procedures
Strong written communication skills, including producing technical reports and delivering presentations
Experience contributing to team-based activities and collaborative tasks
Supplier management and ICT procurement experience, ideally within a public-sector environment
Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex, financial, or statistical information
Ability to produce clear, concise, and meaningful written reports
Knowledge and practical application of ITIL
It would be advantageous to hold an ITIL v2 or v3 Foundation qualification (or higher), along with knowledge of IT Service Continuity procedures. An understanding of COBIT control objectives, FOI requirements, and Data Protection legislation would further strengthen suitability for the role, as would experience in delivering Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM) projects.
