Job Description

Role: Infrastructure Manager | Architect

Location: Manchester (with travel)

Terms: 3 month contract (initially)

"We are looking for a decisive, technically-minded leader to spearhead the audit and eventual shutdown of our legacy estate as we move everything from our European operations to the cloud."

This isn't a "business as usual" role. We need someone with a who can navigate complex cross-border team dynamics, challenge the status quo, and deliver a clear roadmap for decommissioning.

The Mission

Your primary objective is to get a "boots on the ground" understanding of our international footprint and align it with our UK operations. You will be responsible for:

  • Servers Audit: Investigating 50+ legacy Linux servers. You need to map out exactly what services are running, document dependencies, and build a detailed decommissioning plan for 2026.
  • Datacentre Exit: Reviewing our current international datacentre footprint. You’ll identify what’s left, what’s critical, and what needs to be migrated or terminated to close the site.
  • Operational Intelligence: Digging into our office operations. We need to know exactly what the teams are working on, their current capacity, and where the inefficiencies lie.
  • Team Integration: Managing the day-to-day for both the international and UK teams, moving towards a unified "one-team" model with a leaner, more efficient structure.

Who You Are

We aren't looking for a passenger. To succeed in this role, you need to be:

  • Technically Sharp: Strong background in Linux environments and Datacentre migrations. You should be comfortable "under the hood" of old servers.
  • Assertive & "Ballsy": You can hold your own in a room. You aren’t afraid to ask difficult questions, push back against local resistance, and drive the agenda forward.
  • Strategic & Analytical: You can take a mess of legacy tech and turn it into a streamlined, documented plan of action.
  • An Experienced Leader: Proven ability to manage remote/international teams and navigate the sensitivities of potential downsizing and restructuring.
