About The Role
As the business continues to develop, weve identified the need for a full-time, in-houseHSE & Compliance Manager to provide day-to-day leadership and compliance support across operations, enabling us tomaintain the highest standards across every aspect of our work.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional with HSEQ and compliance expertise who is confident in taking ownership of audits, documentation, site training, and quality systems. Youll work closely with both operational and leadership and Senior Management teams to keep everything running safely, compliantly, and efficiently
while making practical improvements along the way.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and Update Legal Compliance Register
Conduct Compliance Reviews - Review and assess company operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ensure Internal Policies Align with Legal Requirements
Document Control and Recordkeeping - Maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities, including audits, assessments, and internal communications.
Ensure that all statutory inspections are up-to-date and conduct quarterly inspections of plant, vehicles, and equipment to maintain compliance and operational safety.
Coordinating and delivering in-house training for site teams, including toolbox talks
Carrying out site health, safety, environmental and quality audits
Monitoring and maintaining paper trails related to equipment defects and workshop actions
Ensuring health and safety standards are met and maintained across all projects
Collaborating with operational teams to develop and maintain RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements), ensuring they are current and readily accessible to all relevant teams.
Support the ongoing compliance and administration of the companys HGV Operators Licence, including monitoring licence conditions, maintaining required records and documentation, supporting audits and inspections, and liaising with the Traffic Commissioner where required.
Supporting and updating ISO systems and compliance documentation
Implementing quality control procedures and risk management strategies
Contributing to the continuous improvement of operational safety and compliance standards
Liaising with operational and leadership staff to embed a proactive safety culture
Who We're Looking For:
Youll likely have worked in a similar safety/compliance role within construction, civils, or another hands-on operational environment. Youll be confident, methodical, and proactive
with a passion for raising standards and a solid working knowledge of what good compliance looks like on-site.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of H&S legislation, including the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and environmental standards.
Background in Health & Safety, compliance, operational support within construction, civils, or related sectors.
Strong working knowledge of H&S legislation and environmental standards
Experience conducting audits and delivering H&S-related training
Highly organised, with a strong ability to manage systems and work independently.
Strong communication and influencing skills
especially with site-based teams
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Full UK driving licence
Hold a relevant H&S qualification
e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
Desirable (But Not Essential):
Experience working within ISO-accredited systems
Familiarity with operational reporting and defect tracking systems
Understanding of the renewables, utilities sector or construction in a similar background
