Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and well-established primary school in Croydon that is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from the start of the Summer Term 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled HLTA to join a supportive school community and play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will:

• Deliver planned lessons and lead whole-class teaching in the absence of the class teach
• Have experience in delivering PE lessons to whole classes and supporting learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
• Have experience in supporting and delivering whole class teaching in other curriculum areas
• Be skilled in adapting and delivering engaging learning strategies, managing behaviour effectively, and supporting pupils' emotional and academic development.
• Demonstrate strong organisational skills, including preparing resources, maintaining pupil records, and contributing to classroom planning.
• Show excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, working well with colleagues, children, and parents.
• Be motivated, flexible, and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and safeguarding.

This role requires someone confident in leading learning in PE, supporting pupils across different year groups, and maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

• Hold HLTA status or have significant experience working at HLTA level
• Have recent experience working within a UK primary school
• Be confident delivering lessons and leading whole-class learning
• Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills
• Be passionate about supporting children's learning and development
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
• Be seeking a long-term role within a supportive school environment

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to step into an HLTA position, or an established HLTA looking for a new opportunity.
