Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)\n\nLocation: Lewisham\n\nContract Type: 3 days per week, Long-term\n\nStart Date: January 2026\n\nJob Purpose\n\nThe Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) supports the teaching and learning of pupils across the school, working under the guidance of teachers to plan, deliver, and assess learning activities. The HLTA may take responsibility for leading lessons, covering classes, and supporting individuals or small groups to raise attainment and ensure positive pupil progress.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nWork collaboratively with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities in line with the school curriculum.\nLead whole-class learning under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher, providing effective classroom management and engagement.\nAdapt teaching strategies and materials to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities and additional needs.\nAssess, record, and report on pupil progress in line with school policies.\nProvide feedback to pupils to support their learning and personal development.\nSupervise pupils in a range of settings, including classrooms, playgrounds, and during educational visits.\nAssist in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning environments.\nSupport teachers with administrative and organisational tasks related to classroom management.\nPromote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils, maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.Qualifications and Experience\n\nHLTA qualification or equivalent Level 4 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning.\nProven experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role.\nUnderstanding of the national curriculum and strategies for effective teaching and learning.\nExperience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).Skills and Attributes\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.\nStrong organisational and classroom management skills.\nHigh expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.Apply for this HLTA role or contact Carly Walters at Remedy Education
