Our client is a well-established maintenance group operating across the UK, with a significant focus on passive fire protection and broader property maintenance services. The business supports both occupied and void residential properties, and maintains contracts with local authorities, housing associations, and commercial clients. The Opportunity
As the business continues to expand its portfolio and operations, they are now looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Manager to take full ownership of all health and safety matters across the group. This is a pivotal role with scope to influence culture, ensure legal compliance, and support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Policy and Procedure Development:
* Write, implement, and maintain up-to-date Health & Safety policies, procedures, and systems aligned with current legislation and best practice.
* Risk Management:
* Produce, review, and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all workstreams.
* Ensure effective COSHH documentation is in place where relevant.
* Site Safety & Audits:
* Conduct regular site visits across various regions to perform audits, safety inspections, and toolbox talks.
* Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
* Compliance & Legislation:
* Ensure full compliance with CDM, fire safety regulations, HSE guidance, and all other relevant UK legislation.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-specific regulations, especially in passive fire protection.
* Incident Investigation & Reporting:
* Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, or breaches.
* Maintain incident logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
* Training & Culture:
* Deliver H&S inductions and training.
* Promote a strong, proactive safety culture across the organisation.
* Travel & Coverage:
* Regular travel required to project sites (both North and South), including void and occupied properties.
* All travel and associated costs fully covered by the company.
What We’re Looking For
* Demonstrable experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, maintenance, or fire protection.
* Strong knowledge of passive fire protection compliance is highly advantageous.
* NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent ().
* Hands-on, confident, and practical approach to problem solving.
* Comfortable with autonomy and able to take ownership of health and safety across multiple sites.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
