Job Description
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £70,000–£75,000 + package
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager to lead and drive the HSE agenda across their construction projects and offices. This senior role reports directly to the Construction Director and is pivotal in promoting a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise on HSE legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Environmental Protection Act 1974.
Keep senior management informed of new regulations and developments.
Develop, maintain, and monitor HSE systems, policies, and procedures.
Conduct site, office, and sales centre inspections, audits, and accident/incident investigations.
Provide HSE reports to the Board and chair quarterly HSE review meetings.
Identify training needs and deliver briefings and refresher sessions for staff and managers.
Liaise with enforcement authorities and contribute to pre-start site planning.
Promote sustainability and environmental initiatives.
Lead by example in safety practices and recommend immediate corrective actions when required.
Skills & Experience:
Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and construction safety standards.
Experience in auditing, inspections, and incident investigations.
Ability to advise and influence senior management.
Commitment to sustainability and environmental best practices.
