Job Description
Health & Safety Manager – Major Civils (Contract)\n\nLocation: Buckinghamshire\nAssignment Rate: £500 – £550 per day (Inside IR35)\nJob type: Contract\nWorking Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week on site\n\nWe are supporting a client organisation delivering one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes in the appointment of an experienced Health & Safety Manager on a contract basis.\n\nThis role is operationally focused, with a strong site presence required to support live major civils works, while also allowing flexibility through a hybrid working arrangement.\n\nThe position is suited to candidates with genuine major civils experience. Consultancy or light construction backgrounds will not be suitable.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will operate as a site-embedded Health & Safety Manager, working closely with construction managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, compliantly and in line with Tier 1 standards.\n\nThe role balances hands-on site leadership with reporting, assurance and coordination activities completed remotely.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Provide Health & Safety leadership across major civils works\n\n * \n\n Maintain strong visibility on site (minimum 3 days per week)\n\n * \n\n Embed H&S standards into site and subcontractor activities\n\n * \n\n Conduct site inspections, audits and behavioural safety tours\n\n * \n\n Review and challenge RAMS, temporary works and high-risk activities\n\n * \n\n Support incident and near-miss investigations and learning reviews\n\n * \n\n Coach site leadership teams to improve H&S performance\n\n * \n\n Act as the key H&S interface between site teams and the wider function\n\nEssential Requirements\n\n * \n\n NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)\n\n * \n\n Major civils experience OR extensive experience with a Tier 1 civils contractor in a project or regional H&S role\n\n * \n\n Clear evidence of team leadership capability\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle\n\nContract Details\n\n * \n\n Rate: £500 – £550 per day (Inside IR35)\n\n * \n\n Working pattern: Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week on site\n\n * \n\n Start date: ASAP / short notice \n\nHow to Apply\n\nIf you are a Health & Safety Manager with proven major civils experience looking for a hybrid, site-focused contract role, we would welcome your application.\n\nAll applications will be handled in the strictest confidence.\n\nBryan & Armstrong Ltd is a specialist Health & Safety recruiter, supplying Health & Safety professionals on an interim and permanent basis across the following disciplines: Health & Safety, Health, Safety & Environment, SHEQ, CDM, Fire, Environmental, Quality Management and Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Systems.\n\nBryan & Armstrong Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers
