Job title: Head of Marketing, Communications & Community Company: Motor Racing Legends Ltd Locations: Head office in Essex, hybrid working; travel to events across UK and Europe Job Type: Five days per week Reports to: CEO, working closely with the COO About Us: Founded over 40 years ago with a vision to unite collectors, drivers, and enthusiasts, Motor Racing Legends is one of the most distinctive organisations in historic motorsport. On the track, the action is a celebration of ten decades of racing history, from the pre-war machines of the 1920s through to GT cars of the 2010s. Alongside, Motor Racing Legends we operate a group of complementary brands including HRDC and Rewind Tour Britain. Together, we deliver high-quality race weekends, livestreams, membership-driven experiences and commercial partnerships for collectors, competitors and fans across the UK and Europe. We’re a small, hands-on team that values clarity, craftsmanship and great stories, both on and off the circuit. Job Overview: You will lead a small but experienced marketing & communications team, shaping strategy and personally execute high-impact campaigns. This role combines strategic leaderships with hands‑on execution. You will manage a compact team and external partners, build competitor insight and development of the MRL Community, create and deliver a communications calendar, and produce content, storyboards for livestreams, and targeted outreach to clients and prospects. German or French language skills are advantageous but not essential. Key responsibilities:
Define and lead group‑wide marketing & communications strategy across Motor Racing Legends, HRDC and Rewind Tour Britain. Manage, mentor and coordinate a compact team (in‑house plus freelance / agency partners) to deliver campaigns, content and event comms. Plan and manage the communications calendar (PR, social, email, web, partner comms) aligned with commercial and event calendars. Strengthen the MRL community by developing communications and content that engages competitors and fans. Competitor and market analysis: track rivals, audience trends and sponsorship landscape to identify opportunities and threats. Drive messaging and targeting: craft clear, compelling value propositions for clients, prospects and membership segments; ensure consistency across brands. Client communications: confidently “quieten the noise” from third parties, provide clear messaging on delicate issues such as eligibility and driving standards handle enquiries. Work with live streaming & content production partners: develop storyboards and runbooks for livestreams, coordinate technical delivery and produce on‑the‑day content (video, social clips, interviews). Performance measurement: set KPIs (reach, engagement, leads, conversions), report on ROI and optimise campaigns. Stakeholder management: work with commercial, operations and customer service teams to align messaging and deliverables. Crisis & issues management: rapid, composed communications when incidents occur. Budget management: allocate and oversee marketing budgets, agency spend and production costs.
Candidate profile / required skills
Proven experience (5+ years) in marketing and communications; experience leading a small team in lifestyle/events/sports/media preferred. Strong copywriting, PR and content production skills; experience working with livestream or production partners. Competent in audience targeting, CRM‑driven email marketing, social platforms, and basic analytics (Google Analytics, native social insights). Skilled at competitor analysis and using insight to inform strategy. Excellent stakeholder and client‑facing communication; able to manage external noise and explain processes clearly and persuasively. Hands‑on, proactive, able to produce content and operate under event pressure. Strong project management and budget discipline. European languages advantageous but not essential. Interest in cars and heritage racing.
