Job Description

Global Head of Executive Reward

Location: Welwyn Garden City (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

I am partnering with a leading retailer to appoint a Head of Executive Reward. This is a high-profile, strategically critical role shaping and governing executive reward across a complex, multi-market organisation.

Operating at the heart of the business, you will advise senior leaders and the Remuneration Committee, lead a specialist reward team, and ensure best-in-class governance, insight and delivery.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the People Director, Reward, Wellbeing & Recognition, you will be accountable for executive reward across the UK, Ireland, Central Europe and India, alongside oversight of group-wide share plans and key reward projects.

You will ensure reward is simple, fair, competitive and sustainable, aligned to long-term business strategy and evolving governance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Reward Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the development and review of executive reward policy, including shareholder consultation planning.
  • Oversee the full executive reward cycle: salary reviews, annual bonus and long-term incentives.
  • Strengthen governance, controls and documentation across reward processes.
  • Produce papers for the Group Remuneration Committee and manage external advisers.
  • Provide advisory input to additional Remuneration Committees across the group.

Reward Advisory

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the CEO, CFO, Chief People Officer and senior leaders on executive hiring, terminations, incentive design, share plans, retention and pay transparency.
  • Support M&A, disposals and TUPE activity from a reward perspective.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Company Secretariat and Communications to ensure robust governance and clear executive communications.

Share Plans & Compliance

  • Oversee global colleague share plans (e.g. SAYE, BAYE).
  • Collaborate on KPI setting for reward programmes.
  • Ensure legislative, regulatory and tax compliance across jurisdictions.

Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and develop a team of six reward specialists.
  • Manage third-party providers and the team budget.
  • Drive insight-led decision-making and digital reward solutions that enhance manager and colleague experience.

About You

You are a commercially astute, credible reward leader who operates confidently at Board and Committee level.

You will bring:

  • Experience drafting proposals for Executive and Remuneration Committees.
  • A track record of delivering executive reward strategy in large, international organisations.
  • Deep expertise in pay cycles, share plans and incentives.
  • Strong understanding of executive compensation trends, governance and multi-market legislative frameworks.
  • The resilience and agility to lead change across a broad, high-impact remit.

If you are looking for a role with genuine visibility, influence and long-term impact, I would love to hear from you.
