We are seeking an exceptional Head of English to lead and inspire our talented team of teachers and students in a prestigious independent girls' school in London. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in September 2025.

About the Role:

• Lead and manage the English department, providing strategic direction and inspiring a shared vision for excellence in English education.
• Oversee the delivery of a high-quality English curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, ensuring that it is engaging, challenging, and relevant to our students' needs and aspirations.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of talented English teachers, providing support, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
• Oversee the organisation and delivery of a diverse program of extracurricular English activities, including debating societies, creative writing clubs, and theatre productions.
• Foster a love of English in all students, encouraging them to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, and to appreciate the power of language to communicate effectively and creatively.
• Manage the department's budget and resources effectively.
• Build strong relationships with parents, external examiners, and the wider school community.
• Contribute to the school's strategic development and promote the value of English education.

Ideal Candidate:

• Holds QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Possesses a degree in English or a related field.
• Has a proven track record of successful leadership and management in an English education setting.
• Demonstrates a passion for English education and a commitment to student success.
• Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Is confident in building rapport with students, staff, and parents.
• Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for English and relevant examination specifications.
• Is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
