Job Title: Head of Engineering

Location: Cookstown

Salary: £95,000 + Benefits & Bonus

Were recruiting a Head of Engineering for a leading food manufacturer based in Cookstown. This is a senior leadership role where youll take full ownership of engineering and maintenance across a busy, high-volume site.

What youll be doing as Head of Engineering:

• Lead, develop, and structure the site engineering team
• Take full ownership of planned and reactive maintenance across all equipment
• Drive reliability improvements, reduce downtime, and improve asset performance
• Ensure compliance across food safety, H&S, and environmental standards
• Oversee maintenance systems, calibration schedules, and engineering documentation
• Set, track, and report on engineering KPIs to senior leadership
• Work closely with production and technical teams to resolve issues quickly
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and TPM principles

What were looking for in a Head of Engineering:

• Proven experience in a Head of Engineering or senior engineering leadership role
• Background in food manufacturing or FMCG (abattoir experience a bonus)
• Strong understanding of maintenance systems, quality systems, and compliance
• Experience managing preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs
• Confident leading teams and driving performance on a fast-paced site
• Knowledge of Lean, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies
• HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent
• Strong communicator, organised, and able to operate at a senior level
