We are growing and looking for an ambitious, curious, dynamic and technically skilled person to join our team as the Head of Advisory, someone who can bring together the technical rigour of legal, HR and employee relations practice with the agility, pace, and commercial awareness required in a client-facing consultancy environment.
Internally, the successful candidate will lead on employment matters impacting our own business and support senior leadership on governance, ER, and risk. Externally, you will be a trusted partner to clients ranging from fast-growth start-ups to FTSE-listed companies, providing clear, human-centred advice on sensitive employment law, employee relations, commercial law and workplace matters.

Build, develop and strategically lead the Advisory department meeting strategic and commercial KPIs, OKRs and other metrics.
Build, develop, train, manage, supervise and support the Advisory team, developing a high performing innovative and agile team meeting client needs and demand.
Develop a sought after, innovative Howlett Brown brand in relation to Advisory services.
Support business development efforts through thought leadership, content creation, and client conversations.
Act as a senior representative of the firm building relationships with clients, partners, and the wider industry.
Provide strategic, cross-disciplinary advice that is legally sound, culturally aware, and operationally realistic covering the areas of employment, commercial and privacy law.
Serve as the senior point of contact for complex client matters including workplace disputes, workforce planning, conflict resolution (informal and formal), employee relations strategy, frameworks, and capability building, employment policy development and compliance, international HR strategy and cross-border legal risk, governance, privacy, and data-related workplace issues, high-risk conduct and grievance matters, including whistleblowing and safeguarding from a legal, HR and employee relations advisory perspective.
Embed rigorous quality assurance processes and elevate standards for advisory excellence across the team. Develop internal tools, frameworks, and methodologies to support consistent, scalable advisory delivery (e.g. risk matrices, process guides, advisory templates).
Ensure our advice reflects the evolving regulatory landscape, international employment norms, and best practice in inclusive, fair people management.
Shape bespoke products and packages for complex client needs (e.g. workplace reviews, global employee relation retainer services, performance frameworks, advisory retainers).
The successful candidate will own the quality, consistency, and evolution of our advisory services, acting as a key leader across client delivery, business development, and service design.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and familiarity with international or cross-border workplace legal considerations.
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coaching senior professionals.
Track record of building client trust and delivering measurable, strategic impact.

Hybrid working Monday and Wednesday mandatory in office days, third day of your choosing and two days working from home.
