Distinct Group is a British-based hotel collection with properties located in the historic towns of Stevenage, Bedford and Rugby, with a fourth hotel due to open shortly in Coventry. Each property is rooted in heritage and individuality, with a strong focus on service, design, style and authenticity. While every hotel has its own character, there is a clear expectation of consistently high service standards across the group.
We are looking for a Group Food and Beverage Training and Service Manager on a 12-month fix term contract. This role has been created to support the operational success of food and beverage across the group. The role has a strong focus on driving service standards from the floor up and ensuring a consistent guest experience across all brasseries, bars and tearooms.
This is a highly visible, proactive role. It is not desk-based, and success will come from leading by example, working alongside teams during service, coaching in real time and supporting managers to build confident, capable teams.
The role would suit someone with a strong background in busy casual dining or high-volume hospitality. Experience within hotel food and beverage operations is advantageous but not essential. A genuine passion for great service, guest experience and developing people is essential.
THE ROLE:
Establish, implement and embed consistent group-wide food and beverage service standards
Develop and introduce clear, practical service expectations that can be consistently delivered across all sites
Be present on the floor to observe service, coach teams and lead by example
Regularly review service delivery and identify areas for improvement
Design and deliver regular, structured food and beverage training sessions
Upskill teams to improve confidence, capability and consistency of service
Support onboarding and induction from a service and standards perspective
Identify training needs and opportunities through observation and feedback
Support Heads of Department to identify service gaps and development needs
Coach and develop Restaurant Managers to support their success and confidence in role
Develop teams to support internal progression and succession planning
Encourage collaboration and shared standards while respecting the individuality of each hotel
Work closely with Hotel Managers, Food & Beverage Managers and Restaurant Managers across the group
Support the successful opening of new properties, including pre-opening service training and readiness
Provide additional hands-on support to existing hotels as required
Monitor service performance and standards across all sites
Gather feedback from guests and teams to inform training focus
Help embed sustainable improvements rather than short-term fixes
This is a full-time position on a 12-month basis. 42.5 hours per week. Regular evenings and weekends will be required due to the nature of the business
IN RETURN:
Competitive salary
Friendly and professional working environment
Excellent opportunity for career progression within an expanding hotel group
Monthly tronc payments
Access to an exclusive Staff Benefits App with discounts on supermarkets, high street shops, and online stores (including Tesco, Sainsburys, and more)
Free and confidential 24-hour staff assistance helpline, offering support for mental wellbeing, legal advice, and financial guidance
Virtual GP Access
Cycle to Work Scheme
Reduced prices for cinema tickets, hotel stays, family days out, and meals in high street restaurants
Discounted gym memberships
Supported internal and external training, including apprenticeship qualifications at all levels
