Groundworks Quantity Surveyor - S278 Works

Skelmersdale - £55,000 - £70,000 + Package

We're working with a leading civil engineering and utilities contractor who are looking to add an experienced Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to their team in Skelmersdale. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing business with a strong project pipeline across the North West.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing commercial aspects of a range of groundworks and civil infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on Section 278 (S278) highway works.

You'll play a key role in cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts, working closely with site teams, subcontractors and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Managing costs across multiple groundworks & civil engineering projects

Preparing Bills of Quantities, take-offs and tender submissions

Handling valuations, variations and final accounts

Commercial management of S278 highway works including kerbing, road construction, drainage and reinstatement

Liaising with clients, local authorities and project teams

Ensuring compliance with contractual, commercial and H&S requirements

Requirements

Experience as a QS within groundworks / civils

Strong understanding of Section 278 (Highways Act) works

Background in drainage, reinstatement, kerbing, roadworks or infrastructure

Able to manage multiple packages and deadlines

Excellent commercial awareness and communication skills

Package

£55,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience), Comprehensive package including car/allowance, pension and benefits
