Your responsibilities will include:

Fleet Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Conduct inspections, maintenance and repairs across the fleet.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and heating system faults.
  • Work with main engines, generators, gearboxes, auxiliary systems, and vessel control systems.

Electrical & Electronic Systems

  • Support marine electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, switchboards, emergency power, and fire detection.
  • Carry out electrical surveys, earth fault investigations, and condition monitoring.

Planned Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Manage and improve the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
  • Lead proactive condition checks across the fleet.
  • Identify recurring trends and implement preventative engineering strategies.
  • Plan major system overhauls, upgrades, and replacements.

New Builds, Dockings & Compliance

  • Act as the technical representative at shipyards during new builds, refits, and warranty periods.
  • Attend dockings as required and support class, flag, and QHSE compliance.

Operational Support

  • Work closely with vessel crews to support safe, effective operation.
  • Provide technical advice, on-call support (2 weeks in 4), and occasional sailing with vessels to resolve defects.
  • Travel to UK and European ports as part of fleet support.

About You

Essential

  • Recognised engineering qualification: NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND, or degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
  • Proven experience in marine engineering or fleet engineering across multi‑disciplinary systems.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem‑solving and technical troubleshooting capability.
  • Able to read and use technical drawings and maintenance documentation.
  • Confident communicator able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Full UK driving licence, willingness to travel and provide on‑call cover.
