About the Role We have exciting opportunities for Fire Engineers at all levels (Engineer to Associate Director) in Bristol, Glasgow, London and Manchester. Hoare Lea’s Fire Engineering group is a leading team of experienced fire safety experts, many of whom are Chartered Engineers through the Institution of Fire Engineers. We invest heavily in training and research, with weekly training sessions, external conference access, and a program to enable Chartered Engineer status. Key Responsibilities
Work with colleagues as part of a multi‑disciplinary team and manage a long‑term external client portfolio. Attend design team meetings, workshops, client meetings and site meetings. Travel to clients or projects in the UK and occasionally internationally. Use software analysis tools – evacuation, smoke and fire modelling, heat radiation models and structural fire modelling. Produce design deliverables including specifications, drawings and schedules. Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery. Support timely invoicing, debt chasing, WIP management and forward workload/resource planning for your own projects. Mentor and support aspiring professionals including apprentices and graduates.
Essential Qualifications
Experience working within a fire engineering consultancy role. Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Building Services, Maths, Architecture or Physics with a strong interest in Fire Engineering. IT literacy with a working understanding of fire modelling software analysis tools. Excellent communication skills and an interest in working in a team environment. Ability and commitment to effectively deliver to demanding timescales and good organisational and planning skills. Chartered engineer status required for roles above Associate.
