Marks Sattin is partnering with a well established bank to recruit a Financial Controller into their London-based finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong accountant to step into a broad, high-impact role, working closely with senior leadership and playing a key part in financial control, regulatory reporting, and process improvement initiatives. You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking environment where your expertise will directly influence financial reporting quality, controls, and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities
Lead on complex accounting areas including IFRS 9 and hedge accounting Ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting across key areas such as leases and tax Act as a technical advisor to the wider finance team Partner with external auditors to support reporting and compliance Own balance sheet integrity through regular reconciliations and reviews Investigate and resolve discrepancies proactively Strengthen financial controls and identify areas for process improvement Support the preparation and delivery of statutory financial statements Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory standards (including emerging IFRS requirements) Collaborate with auditors during reporting cycles Contribute to system enhancements and finance transformation initiatives Drive efficiencies and streamline reporting processesSupport implementation of best-in-class financial controls Partner with stakeholders across finance and the wider business Mentor junior team members and contribute to a high-performing team culture
About You
Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) Strong experience within financial control in banking or financial services Deep understanding of IFRS and financial instruments accounting Confident working with complex products (e.g. FX, derivatives, fixed income) Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude (experience with platforms like Murex or Flexcube advantageous) Proven ability to improve processes and implement change
