SF6 Field Service Engineer Electrical / Mechanical / Switchgear / HVPower Engineering Services is growing its specialist SF6 division and is looking for a hands-on Field Service Engineer to join the team.UK-wide travel | Workshop base: Wortley, Leeds£17-£20 per hour + overtime + progressionOvertime and travel-based work provide strong earning potential above the base rate.Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 4:00pm /Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pmAbout the RolePower Engineering Services (PES) is expanding its specialist SF6 division and is seeking a hands-on SF6 Service & Site Engineer to join the team.This is a varied, site-focused role working across the UK on high and medium voltage electrical equipment. Youll play a key part in delivering SF6 gas handling services during maintenance, repairs, and breakdowns on gas-insulated switchgear.As the division grows, your time will be split between UK site work and workshop-based activities at our Leeds facility.What Youll Be DoingOn-Site Responsibilities (Primary Focus)SF6 gas degassing and recovery from HV/MV switchgearSystem evacuation to remove air and moistureControlled re-gassing to manufacturer specificationsSF6 gas analysis (moisture, purity, decomposition)Leak detection and pressure verificationSupporting maintenance and repair work on client sitesCompleting all documentation, gas records, and certificationsEnsuring compliance with F-Gas and environmental regulationsWorkshop & Equipment Servicing Wortley, LeedsServicing and maintaining SF6 gas handling equipmentEquipment inspection and strip-downReplacement of genuine OEM componentsReassembly and full functional testing leak, vacuum, pressure, safety systemsPreparing equipment for hire tested, certified, and ready for useWhat Were Looking ForMechanical or electrical backgroundessentialExperience in industrial or site-based environments HV/MV or switchgear experience desirable, not essentialSF6 experience advantageous but not requiredPractical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skillsFull UK driving licenceWillingness to travel and stay away when requiredTraining & DevelopmentFull training provided for the right candidateCompany-funded F-Gas certification (if not already held)Manufacturer training on specialist SF6 equipmentOngoing development with clear career progression as the division expandsPES holds an exclusive UK service agreement with a leading European manufacturer of SF6 gas handling equipment, giving you access to specialist training, manufacturer support, and a niche skillset that is in high demand across the power industry.What We OfferTravel and accommodation fully covered for site workFunded training and certificationsClear progression within a growing specialist divisionPotential company vehicle as the department developsIf you're looking to build a career in a specialist, high-demand engineering field with excellent training and progression opportunities, wed love to hear from you.
