The Role An excellent opportunity has arisen for a mechanically biased Field Service Engineer to join the Southwest team, supporting a portfolio of CHP and Biogas engine sites. Reporting to the UK Operations Manager / Operations Director, you will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs on a range of gas engines from 120kW to 3MW, working predominantly on: Jenbacher MWM MAN You will attend customer sites carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), breakdown response, diagnostics, repairs and performance checks, helping to minimise downtime and maintain engine efficiency. This is a field-based role with travel across the Southwest patch. Engineers are paid door-to-door. Key Responsibilities Service, maintain and repair CHP / Biogas gas engines Carry out PPM and scheduled maintenance works Attend breakdowns and diagnose mechanical and basic electrical faults Replace components and carry out engine repairs Complete engine inspections and performance checks Fault find on associated plant and auxiliary equipment Work on engine control systems (DIANE / COMAP / DEIF / TEM preferred) Complete detailed service reports and paperwork accurately Participate in the on-call rota Candidate Requirements Essential: Time served as a Mechanical Engineer NVQ Level 2 / Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or similar Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills Experience working on engines, generators, power generation plants, or rotating equipment Full UK driving licence Good communication and customer-facing skills Strong organisation and ability to work independently Desirable: CHP / Biogas engine experience Jenbacher / MWM / MAN engine knowledge Generator, marine diesel, heavy plant or wider power generation background Basic electrical fault-finding skills (24v DC controls / 415v systems) Gas Safe qualification Alternator/commissioning experience Working Pattern / Travel Field-based across the Southwest region Door-to-door paid travel Occasional overnight stays required
