We are seeking an experienced, proactive and highly motivated Facilities & Premises Manager to play a key role in maintaining and developing our fantastic school site, which contains a mixture of old and new buildings with large outdoor spaces.
The Role
Leadership & Strategic Management
Supply operational oversight of the school's premises and facilitiesProvide decisive leadership over the premises and cleaning teamsSet and maintain high standards for site presentation, safety and operational efficiencyOversee staff recruitment, induction, training, performance management and professional developmentEstablish and review systems, procedures and policies relating to site and facilities managementEnsure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality requirementsReport to the Headteacher and Governors on premises performance and upcoming priorities
Operational Site Management
Oversee the maintenance and continuous improvement of school buildings and groundsEnsure the site is safe, secure and fully operational to support teaching and learningAct as main key holder and respond to alarms and emergency call-outs within agreed hoursManage school lettings and community use of facilitiesCoordinate deliveries and manage site logistics
Health, Safety & Compliance
Lead implementation of the school's Health and Safety policies and proceduresConduct risk assessments and regular site inspectionsIdentify hazards and ensure timely remedial actionManage fire safety systems and coordinate fire and lockdown drillsMonitor contractor safety, compliance and working practices
Maintenance, Development & Estates Management
Lead planned preventative maintenance programmesIdentify improvement opportunities and prioritise refurbishment needsManage building, maintenance and development projectsOversee heating, lighting and energy efficiency systemsCommission maintenance for specialist facilities and equipment
Budget & Contractor Management
Manage premises and maintenance budgets effectivelyPrepare specifications, obtain quotes and manage tender processesEnsure value for money and high-quality service deliveryLiaise with contractors and monitor standards of work

Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in premises, facilities or site managementExperience managing staff and contractorsKnowledge of health and safety regulationsExperience managing budgets and maintenance programmesGood literacy and numeracy skillsStrong practical and problem-solving skills
Desirable
Trade or craft skillsExperience in a school or education environmentExperience managing building or refurbishment projects
