£39,655 per annum with Overtime and a performance bonus! (non contractual)
Role Purpose
The Fabric Technician will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works to the building fabric and associated assets within a critical data centre environment. The role also includes small installation works, minor projects and fabric repairs, ensuring all activities are completed safely, compliantly and in line with strict service level agreements.
This position plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and operational facility, supporting the objective of zero downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out PPM and reactive fabric maintenance across the site
Undertake minor installation, upgrade, repair and project works to internal and external building fabric
Maintain windows, doors, ironmongery, locks, handles and general first-aid fabric repairs
Carry out raised floor maintenance including panel replacement, cutting, levelling and minor repairs
Complete roof, guttering and external fabric inspections, cleaning and minor water-tightness repairs
Perform internal fabric inspections and repairs including partitions, ceilings, fixings and surfaces
Maintain drains, channel drains, handrails, metal flooring, fixtures and fittings
Carry out decorative works and local making good, including floor painting
Undertake small joinery works such as lockers, cupboards, skirtings, architraves and toilet cubicles
Support desk and workstation moves, assemblies and condition checks
Assist M&E engineers with forming holes and sealing penetrations
Complete minor plumbing modifications and repairs where required
Install fire extinguishers, signage and notice boards
Carry out general housekeeping across plant rooms, stores, offices and external areas
Escort, supervise and support specialist subcontractors, including permit issuing and monitoring of works
Review and manage Method Statements and Risk Assessments
Administer e-permits, access and out-of-hours works
Maintain accurate records, reports and job sign-off documentation
Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure KPI and SLA compliance
Proven experience carrying out fabric maintenance within commercial, industrial or critical environments
Strong capability in carpentry, decorating, minor plumbing and general building maintenance
Knowledge of raised floor systems and metal partitioning
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETANCIES
Formal health & safety training
Power tool use certification
Working at height and access equipment training
Physically capable of working at height, in confined spaces and carrying tools and materials up to 25kg
