The Gardening Services provides a high‑quality service to maintain the grounds and gardens of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Withington site and a portfolio of off‑site properties, ensuring a safe and pleasant external environment.
Role Overview
The Environmental Officer – Grounds & Gardens will assist in providing support with the maintenance of site cleanliness, working alongside and under the Head Gardener’s instruction. Duties include daily work such as road sweeping, litter/debris collection, snow clearing and gritting of footpaths and roads.
Responsibilities
Road sweeping, litter/debris collection, and bin emptying across the main site and off‑site properties by hand and with machinery.
Gritting footpaths and roads during adverse winter weather conditions.
Complete daily and weekly maintenance and service tasks as requested.
Participate in ad‑hoc local arrangements for snow clearing and gritting when weather conditions dictate outside of hours working.
Support Estate personnel in assisting/liaising with site customers and contractors.
Work with all Estates Supervisors and managers in the management of risks, including working to agreed risk assessments and assisting with development of additional assessments.
Advise the Head Gardener regarding plant and equipment failure, identify materials required to complete tasks.
Carry out all duties in a professional and conscientious manner.
Wear the Christie NHSFT maintenance service uniform, identification badges and personal protective equipment at all times.
