Inspired Global Cuisine are a frozen ready meal manufacturer based in Gorton, East Manchester. We are an ambitious company who have grown significantly over the last 2 years, now producing over 1million meals a week and have plans to continue to grow. Which includes a re-location to a brand new 369 thousand square foot site in Chadderton, Oldham in early 2026 where we plan to double our volume over the next few years.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations, our HSE Manager will oversee and lead our HSE function and be responsible for developing and implementing the short- and long-term strategies which will evolve IGC and our Cucina site at Trafford Park into best in class when it comes to health, safety and environment.
You will drive ownership throughout our sites and ensure that all colleagues and line managers are fully engaged in our HSE strategy.
This role sits on our management team, will have 2 direct reports in a Health & Safety Advisor and an Environmental Manager will work collaboratively with all of the site management team including Operations, Technical and NPD.
Main areas of responsibility:
To keep abreast of legislation and compliance requirements, assuring business awareness and facilitating any changes required to maintain a legal business operation.
Building working relationships with governing bodies and local authority (e.g. HSE, EA, GMP, GMFR, MCC, UU etc.)
Manage the site-specific contracts for health, safety and environmental department. To forecast, review and control budgets for these contracts. Advising of potential savings and energy efficiency. (i.e. fire alarm system, nitrogen monitoring, waste removal, utility supplies).
Driving the Net Zero carbon improvement plan
Manage the health, safety and environmental team. Setting suitable KPI’s for the delivery of HS&E strategy and reviewing direct reports performance
Develop, maintain and control a Management of Change procedure for use during projects and significant change.
Lead legal compliance and improvement projects for the site, identifying cost/payback and requirements.
Lead factory acceptance testing for health, safety and environmental compliance.
Support costs savings through continuous improvement (CI) and profit improvement plan (PIP) processes where appropriate
Lead training initiatives for Inspired Global Cuisine in respect to health, safety and environmental. Utilising training manager for delivery
Drive engagement throughout the business and distribute ownership and improvement plans to department managers.
Measure the compliance of training delivery and highlight gaps
Lead all legal compliance requirements for the business, auditing as necessary to identify gaps. Lead and assist in gap planning needs, offering solutions and guidance. (e.g. HSWA, LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, EaWR, WAH, CAR, CDM RRFSO, MHSWR etc.)
Develop and maintain health and safety policies and procedures. Keeping key business duty holders informed and instructed.
Develop a site management system or the control of health, safety and environmental, meeting the requirements of relevant guidance and/or ISO standards.
Lead factory-based audits and manage any changes as required.
Co-ordinate and chair site management and committee meetings. Ensuring timely implementation of actions.
Maintain permit systems and compliance recording. Advise on suitability of external contractors and agency risk assessment and method statements.
Manage the site requirements for employee, agency and contractor health surveillance. Liaise with appropriate external resource to ensure implementation.
Forecast, review and control of budgets for health, safety and environmental function.
