Academics are seeking a dedicated and resilient
SEN English Teacher
to join our Alternative Provision based in
Smethwick . This is a full-time position starting
April 2026 , working with students who present
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
needs and may have experienced challenges in mainstream education. Your role will be to re-engage learners in English, build their confidence and help them achieve meaningful academic and personal outcomes. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver creative, differentiated English lessons for KS3-KS4 learners with SEMH needs. Build positive, trusting relationships with students and support their emotional regulation. Develop individual learning plans and adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of needs and abilities. Work closely with the wider pastoral and therapeutic team to support holistic student development. Contribute to behaviour support strategies and promote a safe, structured learning environment. Track progress and provide regular feedback to pupils, parents/carers, and senior staff. About You Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS)
essential . Proven experience teaching students with SEMH needs
- in an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN school or similar setting. Strong behaviour management skills, resilience and a calm, consistent approach. Ability to create engaging, literacy-focused lessons that inspire reluctant learners. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
