An established high-tech engineering and manufacturing business is looking to bring a Project Manager into their growing New Product Introduction (NPI) team. Working at the cutting edge of defence, space and semiconductor technologies, this role offers exposure to genuinely world-class engineering programmes from concept through to production.
Youll be joining a business whose products are used in some of the most advanced applications on the planet, including space exploration, high-end industrial inspection and mission-critical systems.
The Role of the Project Manger
Reporting into the Engineering Manager, youll take ownership of multiple engineering projects, managing delivery across multifunctional teams. Projects vary in size and complexity, ranging from short-term improvements through to long-term, technically complex product developments.
Key responsibilities of the Project Manager include:
Leading engineering projects from concept, design and prototype through to production handover
Managing a portfolio of major and minor projects with full responsibility for scope, budget and timelines
Coordinating cross-functional teams including engineering, production, quality and sales
Acting as a key interface between internal teams and customers
Chairing project meetings and design reviews
Overseeing new product introduction and ensuring manufacturing readiness
Maintaining high-quality documentation and manufacturing drawing packs
Capturing lessons learned from prototype builds and development activity
Supporting business case development and informed technical decision-making
About You
This role would suit a Project Manager who enjoys technically challenging products and hands-on collaboration with engineering teams, or potentially a Project Engineer keen to progress and has had exposure to leading projects
A degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics
Around 3 years experience managing projects within an electro-mechanical product development environment
Strong project planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills
Confidence dealing with both technical teams and external customers
Good IT skills, including MS Office and exposure to engineering or business systems
