Job Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Systems

Location: Barrow-in-Furness / Filton – (Hybrid: 2 days a fortnight in Barrow, 1 day a week in Filton, dependent on business needs; regular visits to other UK sites required)

Salary: Up to £61,967 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading & managing an engineering team to deliver the functional design and definition of Electrical Power Systems equipment
• Managing processes and reviews of technical documentation
• Managing associated technical risks, assumptions, and dependencies
• Providing advice on electrical power technical aspects across various engineering disciplines
• Engaging with customers and suppliers to resolve complex problems
• Guiding the team through the systems definition process
• Providing leadership and mentoring to junior team members to develop their capabilities and skills

Your skills and experiences:

Essential

• Chartership or working towards an Engineering degree or HND with substantial experience in Electrical Engineering design/development
• Experience in design/development of power systems (concept to detailed design)
• Significant knowledge of AC and DC electrical power systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team leadership experience

Desirable

• Knowledge of defence standards
• Experience with Marine Electrical Systems
• Experience working with the engineering lifecycle

The Electrical Power Systems Definition team:

Working on the UK’s next-generation SSN design, incorporating technology from the UK, Australia, and the US, you will lead a team defining system elements for submarine design and build, including documentation, spatial modelling, and build outputs. The role involves travel across the UK, including BAE, customer, and supplier sites. Relocation support is available for eligible roles.
