An established Birmingham-based design consultancy is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its team. This is a delivery-focused role, with approximately 90% of projects centred on detailed design work for contractor-led schemes. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in producing technical design packages and supporting projects through construction. Due to the collaborative nature of the work with contractors, this would predominantly office based, along with regular site attendance. This position would suit someone who enjoys hands-on technical delivery, resolving buildability challenges, and being actively involved in live project environments. Key Responsibilities Produce detailed electrical design packages for contractor delivery Develop construction drawings, schematics, and technical specifications Carry out load calculations, cable sizing, and system design Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams Liaise directly with contractors and subcontractors Attend site meetings and provide technical support during installation Resolve design and buildability issues on site Ensure compliance with current UK regulations and standards Requirements Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering Proven experience in detailed electrical design Strong understanding of UK building services regulations and standards Experience working directly with contractors Confident attending and contributing to site meetings Excellent written and spoken English Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux or similar) Desirable Working towards or holding xehkeey Chartered Engineer status Experience across commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects Knowledge of lighting design, power distribution, and LV systems Experience producing contractor-ready technical packages Why Join?
