Job Purpose
The ECE is responsible for the electrical assembly, installation, testing, and fault finding associated with all company projects and domestic facilities. It requires the post holder to co-ordinate resources and liaise with internal and external key contacts to ensure work is delivered on time and to a quality standard.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
Manage the company Pat Testing System and Log
Responsible for overseeing the training of co-workers on how to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
Assist with the design of control circuits for existing and new build machinery including wiring to the PLC as well as creating panel layouts
Assist the production manager with the compilation of build of materials and other technical project documentation
Prepare drawings or follow Engineering drawings to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
Maintain records and files, preparing electrical reports, test certificates and liaise with the procurement team when ordering supplies and equipment
Provide preliminary drawings and cost estimates for materials and services
Assist the Procurement Team by testing and preparing Electrical and Mechanical spares for customers
The post holder might occasionally be asked to work overtime or out of hours in order to ensure project deadlines are met
The post holder might occasionally be asked to travel within and outside of the UK in support of company projects
Qualifications
Education
18th Edition BS7671 IET Wiring Regs
Experience with Electrical Control Panels
Electical Test/Fault Finging & Rectification
Specialized knowledge
The minimum requirement for the post of ECE would be a 3 year engineering apprenticeship in electrical/control engineering. Experience in a civil/marine/aerospace engineering capacity is a necessity.
Skills
An understanding of the requirements of assembly, test, fault finding and rectification of complex electromechanical components and machines. A good understanding and experience of using test equipment
Proven track record of the ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines
Good interpersonal communication and organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Intermediate ICT skills (MS Office, Emails etc)
Be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal format
