To provide specialist ecological and management advice.To help meets its legislative requirements whilst also helping to conserve and enhance the biodiversity of the City.
Key responsibilities
* To ensure we meets statutory requirements in respect of biodiversity.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning and wildlife legislation, and update colleagues as necessary.
Key tasks
* Provide ecological advice to colleagues, developers, agents, and the wider public, and collaborate with statutory agencies on a wide range of biodiversity issues, from individual species to habitats.
* Assist and evaluate information submitted for planning applications and provide written comments on planning and other applications regarding biodiversity matters.
* Advise and assist enforcement teams where appropriate.
* Provide ecological advice and support on a range of council projects.
* Maintain up-to-date information on the Local Site designations using appropriate software, including periodic review in line with the most up-to-date criteria, and assist in the development of site management plans.
* Assist with the appointment and procurement of consultants to undertake ecological surveys to support planning documents, project work, licence applications and monitoring measures.
