Director, Strategy & Transformation Large UK Infrastructure Organisation, Midlands‑based Our client is a leading infrastructure business, operating at the heart of critical national services. With responsibility for assets and services that affect millions of customers every day, it plays a vital role in supporting communities, economic growth and environmental resilience across the country. A rare and high‑profile leadership opportunity has emerged to lead corporate strategy, sustainability, and enterprise‑wide transformation at scale. This is a senior, board‑facing leadership position with broad accountability for shaping and delivering the organisation’s long‑term direction and change agenda. Working closely with the Executive Committee and Board, the role has a high degree of board visibility and engagement, alongside significant leadership responsibilities. You will lead the development of the organisation’s corporate strategy, defining strategic choices, growth priorities and long‑term positioning across both regulated and commercial businesses. This includes leading the annual Board strategy process, shaping and evaluating strategic options through rigorous analysis, and advising senior executives on the strategic issues facing the organisation. You will shape future transformation programmes, regulatory positioning and long‑term asset strategy, acting as a trusted strategic partner to the Executive Committee and Board. You will horizon‑scan emerging trends, regulation, and best practice to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure delivery. You will lead a central transformation function of change and programme professionals, accountable for defining and delivering the organisation’s most important enterprise‑wide initiatives. This includes establishing robust programme governance, pacing and benefits realisation, embedding an outcome‑led transformation culture, and providing clear, timely insight to executives and the Board on progress, risks and delivery. Experience in corporate strategy, enterprise transformation, or large‑scale change. A background in consulting or advisory environments, operating as a trusted partner to executive teams. The ability to lead through influence, build high‑performing teams, and operate comfortably in sensitive, high‑profile environments. A strong track record of leading complex, multi‑year transformation programmes. Exposure to asset‑intensive, regulated or operationally complex sectors such as infrastructure, energy, utilities, engineering, or heavy industry. The credibility and judgement to operate confidently with Boards, regulators, investors and senior external stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen, analytical rigour, and problem‑solving capability. Direct sector experience is not essential. Intellectual agility, strategic judgement, and the ability to rapidly build context and credibility will be key.
