Operations Director – Warehouse & Distribution Location: Bedfordshire | On-site role We are working on a confidential retained search for an Operations Director to join a well-established, profitable UK distribution business entering a significant growth and transformation phase. This role is firmly focused on warehouse and distribution operations. It is not a broad or ambiguous “operations” position. The successful candidate will take full accountability for day-to-day operational performance and lead the evolution of a high-SKU, high volume, fast-paced distribution environment. The role

Full leadership of warehouse, logistics and operational execution Drive continuous improvement across productivity, service, quality, inventory accuracy and cost Lead a major Warehouse Management System (WMS) implementation and process redesign Establish strong operational cadence, KPIs and management discipline Develop and coach operational teams to support sustained growth and increased complexity Work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership to build a scalable platform for the future

The person

Proven senior operations leader (Operations Director / Head of Operations / Senior Operations Manager) Background in distribution, wholesale, 3PL or high-volume manufacturing environments Strong experience in warehouse and distribution operations Track record of leading operational change and systems-led improvement Experience of WMS implementation highly advantageous (or clear capability to lead one) No requirement for specific industry or product knowledge – transferable operational leadership is key. Although we still welcome applications from those who have done such a role within the building or plumbing products distribution industry Pragmatic, structured, hands‑on and comfortable operating on site
