Design Manager

As a Design Manager, you will report directly to the Head of the Design Team and play a key role in overseeing the technical design process across multiple construction projects. This includes coordinating all technical information between internal departments and external consultants to ensure the smooth delivery of design outputs.

Core responsibilities include managing design programmes, obtaining planning and building control approvals, handling legal requirements such as Section Agreements, and supporting feasibility and construction phases with technical guidance.

You’ll also manage design documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, appoint and oversee external consultants, and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders to keep projects aligned with key milestones and objectives.

This role requires a proactive approach and a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will be expected to lead and support members of the internal design team, uphold quality standards through regular design reviews, and contribute to enhancing operational processes.

Ideally, you will be educated to HNC/HND level or equivalent in Construction, Project Management, Architecture, or Construction Design.

Essential skills include strong communication, team leadership, risk management experience in design coordination with either main contractors or architectural practices.

A working knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM, and document management systems is expected, while experience with Revit and/or Tekla and professional membership (e.g., CIOB, RICS, or RIBA) is desirable.
