Job Title: Freelance Design Manager

Location: Nottingham (site-based)

Duration: 12 Months

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: £400 – £450 per day (PAYE)

Project Value: £80 million

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join a major £80 million school development project in Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a large-scale education scheme, supporting the Senior Design Manager in delivering a high-quality, complex build.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the Senior Design Manager in coordinating all design activities across the project lifecycle

* Manage design consultants and subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of design information

* Review and comment on design drawings, specifications, and technical submissions

* Ensure designs comply with project requirements, building regulations, and client expectations

* Monitor design progress against programme and identify potential risks or delays

* Attend and lead design meetings, workshops, and coordination sessions

* Liaise closely with site, commercial, and project management teams

Requirements

* Proven experience as a Design Manager or Assistant Design Manager within the construction industry

* Experience working on education or school projects is but not essential

* Strong understanding of construction processes, design coordination, and project delivery

* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and communicate effectively

* Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach

* Relevant construction or design qualification ()
