Design Manager (Associate Partner)
London (Studio-based)
£80,000+ (DOE)

We’re partnering exclusively with one of the world’s most prestigious architecture and design studios—globally recognised for over 50 years of innovation across sustainable architecture, urbanism, and engineering. They are now seeking a commercially astute, design-literate leader to join their London studio as an Associate Partner.
The Opportunity
This is a rare hybrid role sitting at the intersection of design excellence and commercial strategy.
You’ll act as a trusted partner to leading architects—ensuring that ambitious, high-profile projects are underpinned by strong commercial control, contractual clarity, and proactive risk management.
This is not about directing design—it’s about protecting it.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership: Own project financial performance—fees, scope definition, procurement, and sub-consultant engagement Contract Expertise: Lead on contract administration, change control, and extensions of time (EOT) Risk Management: Anticipate and manage project risks, clearly communicating impact to stakeholders Project Delivery: Guide projects through RIBA Stages 1–4+, aligning technical delivery with commercial strategy Team Leadership: Mentor and develop team members, fostering a proactive and solutions-driven culture
About You
10–15+ years’ experience within the construction / built environment sector Background as a qualified Architect or Engineer Strong commercial acumen—comfortable managing fees, scope, contracts, and risk Experience bridging design teams and project/commercial functions Excellent written and verbal communication skills Calm, resilient, and confident operating in complex, international project environments
