Design Engineer

An established engineering and manufacturing group is looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join a growing CAD and automation team. This is a key role supporting the development, automation, and testing of specialist engineered products across multiple UK operations. The position offers a strong mix of hands-on design, automation development, and product innovation, with exposure to advanced and regulated product environments. The Role

Act as a core member of the CAD team, maintaining and expanding automated drawing systems

Design and develop new products, prototypes, and test solutions

Produce and manage drawings using AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD

Support automation development using iLogic and in-house systems

Collaborate with sales, design, and production teams to deliver certified products

Contribute to value engineering and continuous product improvement

Support testing handovers including documentation and pricing information

Produce manufacturing drawings when required

Assist the Design & Technical Manager with ad-hoc technical tasks

Occasional UK travel; flexibility with working hours required to meet business needs

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong working knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor

Working knowledge of AutoCAD

Experience with iLogic and automated design systems

High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft applications

Good numeracy and literacy skills

Self-motivated, reliable, and solutions-focused

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to obtain security clearance

Desirable Experience

Product development and R&D experience

Research or testing background

Programming or automation experience

Innovative, improvement-driven mindset
