Job Description

If so, this Design Engineer – Product role could be a great next step in your career.\n\nWe’re supporting a well-established Portsmouth-based manufacturer specialising in high-quality electrical and electronic components supplied to global markets including aerospace, medical, industrial, automotive and defence.
With continued investment in R&D, design tools and testing facilities, this is an exciting time to join the Product Design team.\n\nWhat’s the role all about?\n\nAs a Design Engineer, you’ll work within the Product Design & Development team, contributing to the design and development of new and existing products from initial concept through to production launch.\n\nYou’ll play a key role in expanding the product portfolio, working closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality and other internal teams to deliver high-quality, compliant and commercially successful designs.\n\nYour responsibilities will include:\n\nProducing 3D CAD models and detailed technical drawings for manufacture and customers\n\nSupporting Sales with technical input and product knowledge\n\nWorking to global engineering standards and EN9100 requirements\n\nLeading or contributing to DFMEA activities to identify and mitigate design risks\n\nCoordinating product development activities across cross-functional teams\n\nPlanning and managing daily design tasks to meet project deadlines and KPIs\n\nChecking drawings and customer documentation for accuracy and completeness\n\nManaging document and drawing updates to maintain workload balance\n\nSupporting continuous improvement across design processes and standards\nThis is a hands-on design role where you’ll have real influence over how products are developed and launched.\n\nWhat you’ll need\n\nTo be successful as a Design Engineer, you’ll bring:\n\nDegree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering\n\nExperience using Creo Parametric or SolidWorks (FEA experience beneficial)\n\nGood understanding of engineering tolerancing and quality procedures\n\nStrong communication skills and confidence working cross- functionally\n\nAbility to work independently while contributing effectively to a team\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel\n\nA structured, organised approach with good attention to detail\n\nWillingness to learn about production processes and design standardisation\nWhat ’s in it for you?\n\nCompetitive salary\n\n25 days holiday + bank holidays\n\nAdditional 3 days off over the festive period\n\nCompany pension scheme\n\nLife cover (3x salary)\n\nBonus scheme\n\nEmployee Assistance Programme\n\nSoftware and equipment-based training\n\nAccess to state-of-the-art 3D printing facilities\n\nDedicated R&D test lab for hands-on product validation\nYou’ll be joining a business that genuinely invests in its engineers, tools and technology.\n\nReady to take the next step?\n\nIf you’re a Design Engineer looking to develop innovative products in a supportive and technically strong environment, we’d love to hear from you.\n\nApply today — or get in touch for a confidential conversation.\n\nKingdom People are acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.\n\n#INDFPR
