The Role
As Deputy General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day leadership of the hotel, supporting the General Manager in overseeing all departments and acting as the senior decision-maker in their absence. Your focus will include operational efficiency, occupancy levels, financial performance, staff development and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily hotel operations across Front of House, Accommodation, Kitchen, Food & Beverage, Events & Banqueting, Administration, Maintenance and Health Club
Ensure consistently high standards of service, staff presentation, hygiene, cleanliness and operational efficiency
Financial Control & Commercial Performance
Support KPI delivery, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and rota management
Implement operational strategies to maximise profitability, sales and guest experience
Deputising for the General Manager
Act as the main on-site decision-maker in the GM's absence
Lead management meetings and manage property operations with professionalism and confidence
Leadership, Communication & People Development
Lead, motivate and mentor department heads and wider teams
Drive a high-performance culture through training, performance management, accountability and clear communication
Support recruitment, onboarding and retention of high-quality team member
Guest Experience & Compliance
Always ensure exceptional guest service, handling feedback and complaints effectively
Maintain full compliance with health & safety, licensing and statutory obligations
About You
Essential Criteria
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Deputy General Manager in a similar hotel environment
Strong background in hotel or hospitality management at a senior operational level
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Comprehensive operational knowledge across F&B, front office, kitchen, accommodation and hotel compliance
Good standard of education with a hospitality management qualification and relevant experience
Right to work and live in the UK / Northern Ireland (share code required for non-British/non-Irish candidates)
Desirable
Proven ability to mentor and develop management teams
Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, cost and rota management
Solid front- and back-of-house operational expertise
Passion for delivering high hospitality and customer service standards
Professional and confident communicator with staff and guests
