There is a requirement for the successful candidate to additionally cover the Barts Life Sciences Lead Data Scientist role as maternity cover. This will involve providing line-management to the existing highly-competent and experienced Data Science team until May 2026, when the incumbentLead Data Scientistreturns from maternity leave. As part of Barts Life Sciences, the post holder will have access to data and computation power, knowledge and innovation to lead the project's development and genuinely impact patient care. We have a close network of clinical teams across the Trust, research groups at Queen Mary University of London and engaged patient groups to priorities and spread project outputs.
As well as specialist technical knowledge, this role requires at least 3 years' experience of managing technical (particularly data science) teams, budget management, and working collaboratively with both academic and industry partners. Experience of digital product development, including identification and management of intellectual property, regulatory requirements and commercialisation is also essential. This covers a broad range of activities from discovery science, product development and testing, and the application of new technology in a healthcare setting.

Although this position is a 31 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. Experience of developing and implementing research and technical policies that have an impact on other disciplines and research programmes
Significant experience establishing and leading impactful complex data science projects with multiple stakeholders (academic and industry) within a hospital context
