Were looking for a Data Architect to work in the UK on a fixed term contract basis. The Data Architect will be responsible for designing, building, and leading the data architecture and strategy for EPR implementation and digital transformation programmes within the NHS. This role will ensure robust data modelling, migration, repository management, and reporting solutions to support clinical and operational
Location: Norwich, Uk (hybrid basis must be able to work in Norwich 2 days per week)
Type: Fixed term contract (for 12 months)
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the overall data architecture for EPR and related digital transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with NHS standards and strategic objectives.
Define data models, structures, and integration patterns to support interoperability, analytics, and reporting requirements.
Establish and enforce data governance, data quality, and security protocols in accordance with NHS and GDPR regulations.
Lead the planning, execution, and validation of data migration activities from legacy systems to new EPR platforms.
Oversee data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption to clinical operations.
Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve data migration challenges and optimise outcomes.
Develop logical and physical data models to support clinical, operational, and analytical use cases.
Ensure data repositories are structured for efficient querying, reporting, and integration with other NHS systems.
Define and deliver robust reporting and business intelligence solutions to support clinical decision-making, operational management, and statutory reporting.
Ensure reporting solutions are accurate, timely, and aligned with NHS data standards.
Act as the primary data lead for EPR implementation, liaising with clinical, operational, IT, and vendor teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers, analysts, and project teams.
Communicate complex data concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ensure all data solutions comply with NHS Digital, NHSX, and other relevant regulatory standards.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Lead, or similar role within NHS or large healthcare organisations.
Hands-on experience with EPR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic, System C, Allscripts, or similar).
Extensive experience in data build, migration, modelling, repository management, and reporting.
Strong understanding of NHS data standards (e.g., SNOMED CT, HL7, FHIR), clinical workflows, and interoperability requirements.
Proficiency with ETL tools, data integration platforms, and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, cloud-based solutions).
Experience designing and implementing data warehouses, data lakes, and reporting solutions.
Knowledge of data governance, information security, and GDPR compliance.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
Desirable Skills:
· Formal data architecture certification (e.g., DAMA, CDMP, TOGAF).
· Experience with NHS Digital, NHSX, or other healthcare IT programmes.
· Familiarity with clinical safety standards (e.g., DCB0129, DCB0160).
· Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
· Agile and/or DevOps delivery experience.
