Customs Operations & Compliance Manager

We're seeking an experienced and immediately available Customs Operations & Compliance Manager to oversee end-to-end customs compliance and cross-border operations for a major global retail and entertainment company. This role ensures smooth, efficient and compliant movement of goods across the UK and EU, supporting a high-volume Direct-to-Consumer operation.
The Role
You’ll lead customs activities, ensuring accurate classifications, documentation and duty management, while partnering with Buying, Merchandising and Supply Chain teams. Managing one direct report, you’ll work closely with logistics providers, regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee customs clearance, duty accuracy and product classification
Manage customs procedures (incl. bonded warehouse, CFSP, AEO) and documentation
Liaise with global logistics partners to support efficient UK/EU goods movement
Lead and develop the customs team, ensuring compliance with HR and H&S standards
Support budgeting, reporting, audits and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
Strong experience in customs operations, duty management or freight forwarding
Knowledge of import regulations, documentation and supply chain processes
Confident managing stakeholders across multiple regions
Solid people management experience
Retail or consumer product experience beneficial
Additional Info
Some UK/EU travel required; hybrid working available.
