The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management's Credit Risk Management area. The team evaluates credit risk transactions to reduce risk and manage credit risk limits in line with risk tolerance. The department assigns internal credit ratings, monitors exposures, and reports to the Chief Risk Officer and Firm Risk Management. The role focuses on assessing credit risk associated with Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending facilities, reviewing loan structures, collateral and risk mitigation strategies.
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley in achieving its business goals by partnering with business units to realize efficient risk‑adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board, and protecting the firm from losses due to credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
What Will You Be Doing?
Lead the management and evaluation of CRE warehouse loan originations, renewals, amendments, and modifications, ensuring alignment with the firm’s risk appetite and business objectives.
Oversee monitoring of the existing loan portfolio, driving analysis and reporting of risk profiles, trends, industry developments and concentrations.
Facilitate and lead meetings with key stakeholders, including external clients, firm credit committees, and business unit discussions.
Coordinate review of due diligence materials; actively participate in client diligence, site visits and assessment of appraisals/valuations.
Mentor and empower junior team members through training and professional development.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum 5 years of experience covering commercial real‑estate lending, ideally within credit risk.
Strong knowledge of the lending process, transaction structures and documentation (e.g., term sheets and facility agreements).
Understanding of financial markets, financing instruments, associated legal documentation and lending structures.
Knowledge of basic accounting/financial concepts and familiarity with credit metrics.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally.
Strong analytical skills; experience in financial analysis and modelling.
Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
Bachelors degree or equivalent.
Fluency in English is required.
