Role: Cover Supervisor Overview: A Cover Supervisor is responsible for supervising secondary school classes during the short-term absence of a teacher. The role ensures that students remain engaged in learning and that the classroom environment stays orderly and productive. Key Responsibilities: Supervise whole classes in the absence of the regular teacher Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students complete set work Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies Provide support to students and respond to general queries Take attendance and report any issues or incidents Ensure a safe and focused learning environment Liaise with teaching staff and report on lesson outcomes Requirements: Experience working with young people (ideally in a school setting) Strong behaviour management skills Good communication and organisational abilities Ability to follow instructions and work independently A calm, confident, and professional approach Desirable: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant Understanding of the UK secondary school system Relevant qualifications or training in education
