We are seeking a Controls & Instrumentation (C&I) Project Engineer to join a high-profile engineering team that supports major operational assets, outages and maintenance activities across the UK.

About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated engineer who takes ownership and delivers high-quality solutions. In this role you will:
Deliver projects and support outages, working closely with stakeholders across multiple functions and the supply chain.
Lead and contribute to proactive and reactive engineering activities, including fault finding, problem solving and technical investigations.
Apply strong C&I engineering knowledge to maximise asset availability and performance.
Lead project teams as required, depending on complexity.
Define scopes of work, develop technical and contract documentation, and oversee contractor performance.
Promote and embed high standards of health, safety, environmental performance and quality.
Share best practice across multiple sites, benchmarking performance and driving continuous improvement.
Contribute to long-term planning and development within the Asset Support team.
About You (Essential Requirements)
Higher Diploma or Degree in a Control & Instrumentation discipline.
Strong foundation in engineering, maintenance, and project delivery.
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation (IOSH Managing Safely/NEBOSH or equivalent).
Sound understanding of complex C&I process systems, regulations and operational requirements.
Ability to investigate issues, determine root causes and implement compliant engineering solutions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
Effective organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities and resources.
Working knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
Experience managing contracts, suppliers, and on/off-site project activities.
Full and clean UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511) and/or Cyber Security for Industrial Control Systems.
Use of lean tools to diagnose and resolve engineering issues to root-cause level.
Experience working with DCS and PLC systems, fault finding and troubleshooting.
Alarm management and simulation experience.
SAP system knowledge.
Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
