C&I Engineer (Control & Instrumentation) Near Basingstoke, UK (on-site role) Overview I am currently recruiting for a Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join our client at a gas storage facility near Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of control systems within a high-integrity environment. Key Responsibilities Design and develop control and instrumentation systems for gas storage operations Produce and review technical documentation including P&IDs, control philosophies, and loop drawings Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and electrical engineers Provide technical support for troubleshooting and system optimisation Participate in hazard studies (e.g., HAZOP, SIL assessments) where required Essential Requirements Proven experience in the design of instrumentation and control systems Strong understanding of control system architecture, field instrumentation, and industrial communication protocols Experience working in hazardous area environments (e.g., oil & gas, energy, or similar sectors) Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following criteria: Hold CompEx 12A and 12B certification Be Functional Safety certified (e.g. TV or equivalent) Demonstrate experience across the full lifecycle of control systems (design, implementation, commissioning, and operation) Desirable Skills & Experience Familiarity with PLC/SCADA/DCS systems Knowledge of IEC standards and functional safety lifecycle Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail What We Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunity to work on critical infrastructure Career development and training opportunities How to Apply If you are a dedicated C&I Engineer coming from a highly regulated background looking to take the next step in your career within the energy sector, I'd would love to hear from you.
