Overview Service Care Legal are working with a local authority based in Sussex who are looking for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Solicitor to join its Legal Services team on an interim basis while a permanent appointment is recruited. You'll act as a key legal adviser to officers across the Council, supporting a wide range of contracts and procurement projects and ensuring compliance with procurement law and council governance. Details Role: Contracts & Procurement Lawyer Location: Sussex / hybrid (1 day per week in the office) Contract: Ongoing pending permanent recruitment Rate: GBP55.00ph umbrella / GBP48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / GBP43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday pay The Role
Draft and negotiate commercial and public sector contracts including SLAs, funding agreements, inter-authority agreements, and JCT/NEC construction contracts Provide legal advice throughout the procurement process Assess and manage legal risk and support compliant procurement strategies Work closely with legal, procurement and governance teams across the authority
The Person
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Previous local authority experience for this role would be essential Strong experience in contracts and procurement law Confident advising officers and managing your own caseload
