Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist - Eating Disorders £190,000 per annum (DOE) £10,000 Joining Bonus Hertfordshire £5000 Car Allowance

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist child and adolescent mental health service supporting young people aged 12–18 with eating disorders. This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering tailored, evidence-based care in a structured inpatient setting.

You will be responsible for assessing referrals, carrying out comprehensive admissions, and developing clear treatment plans that support recovery. The role includes ongoing risk assessment, monitoring both mental and physical health, and guiding the clinical direction of each patient’s care.

Essential: GMC registration with specialist accreditation in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Experience working with young people with eating disorders. Strong clinical leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess referrals and determine suitability for admission to the service. Carry out comprehensive psychiatric and risk assessments for young people. Develop, implement, and regularly review individualised treatment plans. Monitor and support both mental and physical health needs of patients. Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the multidisciplinary team. Supervise and support junior doctors and other clinical staff. Contribute to risk management processes and safeguarding practices. Participate in the on-call rota and provide cross-cover when required. Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with governance standards. Work collaboratively with external professionals to ensure continuity of care. Engage in clinical governance activities, audits, and service development. Participate in appraisal, CPD, and ongoing professional development.
