Commercial Manager / Quantity Survey – 6 month FTC - Leicestershire - £DOE


A leading global retail design, production, and rollout agency is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of large-scale FMCG point-of-sale (POS) roll-out programmes across multiple European markets. This is a senior commercial role, working closely with a Senior Project Manager to ensure high-value programmes are delivered profitably, efficiently, and in line with contractual and commercial objectives. The role offers exposure to multi-million-pound budgets, complex supply chains, and international delivery environments. This is a 6 month contract, based in Leicestershire.


Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Cost Management

  • Take ownership of commercial and cost control for large-scale FMCG POS roll-out programmes
  • Manage budgets, cost forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting across multi-market projects
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Manager to align commercial strategy with delivery plans
  • Provide commercial input during planning, design development, and implementation phases
  • Support senior leadership with value engineering, margin optimisation, and commercial decision-making


Contract Administration

  • Review, draft, and administer client and supplier contracts where required
  • Manage variations, compensation events, extensions of time, and contractual changes
  • Prepare and validate applications for payment, final accounts, and project close-out documentation
  • Maintain accurate and auditable commercial records and contract registers


Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Support supplier and subcontractor selection across international supply chains
  • Lead or support commercial negotiations, pricing agreements, and service level terms
  • Ensure procurement activity aligns with budgets, specifications, and programme milestones
  • Drive value through competitive procurement and cost engineering initiatives


Risk, Compliance & Reporting

  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes and governance standards
  • Attend project meetings and provide clear, concise commercial updates and reporting
  • Contribute to client-facing reports and financial reviews


Skills & Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in commercial management or quantity surveying roles within retail design, POS, FMCG roll-outs, or fit-out environments
  • Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, tendering, and variation management
  • Proven ability to manage commercial performance across multi-country programmes and complex supply chains
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and financial reporting skills
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities
  • Confident communicator, able to present commercial positions clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial / cost management tools
  • Willingness to travel as required


Qualifications

Formal qualifications are not essential; however, a degree (or equivalent experience) in one of the following would be advantageous:

  • Quantity Surveying
  • Commercial Management
  • Engineering or Manufacturing Management (with commercial exposure)
  • Business or Finance
