Commercial Finance Manager
Salford, Greater Manchester, UK
Full Time, Permanent
Salary Circa - £60,000 - £70,000
Forge Talent are partnering with an established organisation currently emerging from a successful turnaround phase and now entering a period of ambitious growth. The business has a clear vision, focusing on improving margins, strengthening processes, and driving performance to achieve a 10% EBIT benchmark. As plans accelerate, they are expanding the finance team to support stronger commercial insight and operational decision-making.
The Opportunity
The Commercial Finance Manager will play a key role in supporting the next stage of the company’s growth. This person will provide high-quality commercial analysis, improve reporting frameworks, and partner closely with both finance and non-finance stakeholders to influence performance across the organisation.
You will be a central figure in driving margin improvement, tightening processes, and helping shape the financial strategy as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a strategic business partner to operational and commercial teams, translating financial insight into clear, actionable recommendations.
Lead on margin analysis, commercial reporting, and performance tracking to support the company’s EBIT targets.
Review, strengthen, and embed robust financial processes across the business.
Produce insightful management information, forecasts, and analysis to support decision-making.
Support the Finance Director with strategic projects linked to business transformation and growth.
Manage and develop 1–2 direct reports within the commercial finance team.
Prepare and deliver financial information to senior stakeholders, including the Managing Director.
Work with internal systems, including the business’s proprietary ERP and CRM tools, to improve data flow, accuracy, and reporting capability.
Stakeholder engagement across multiple non-finance teams, ensuring financial performance is understood and acted upon.
Support in evaluating internal talent and involvement in recruitment of roles within your team where required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Vibrant, outgoing personality with strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance colleagues.
Commercially astute with a strong understanding of margins, pricing, and operational performance.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment undergoing transformation and growth.
Able to build relationships quickly and credibly across the business.
Strong Excel and analytical capability.
Experience in FMCG, retail, distribution, or a similar margin-driven sector is advantageous but not essential.
CRM experience beneficial.
Qualified or QBE will be considered depending on experience and capability.
